Almond, Walnut & Makhana Health Mix / Traditional Homemade Wellness Drink

Almond, Walnut & Makhana Health Mix / Traditional Homemade Wellness Drink

Homemade almond walnut and makhana health mix with warm milk, dry coconut, jaggery, poppy seeds and fennel seeds

Sometimes the simplest ingredients in our kitchen can become part of a nourishing everyday diet. This traditional homemade health mix combines almonds, walnuts, makhana, dry coconut, jaggery, poppy seeds and fennel seeds into an easy powder that can be enjoyed with warm milk.

These ingredients naturally provide a variety of nutrients, healthy fats and minerals. Rather than treating this as a cure for any health condition, think of it as a nutritious homemade addition to a balanced diet.

🌿 Ingredients

  • Almonds (Badam) – 1 handful
  • Walnuts (Akhrot) – 1 handful
  • Makhana (Fox Nuts/Lotus Seeds) – 1 handful
  • Dry Coconut (Nariyal) – 1 small bowl, cut into pieces
  • Jaggery (Gur) – 1 small bowl, cut into pieces
  • Poppy Seeds (Khus Khus) – 1 small bowl
  • Fennel Seeds (Saunf) – 1 small bowl

🥜 Why These Ingredients?

Almonds provide healthy fats, protein and minerals and make this homemade mixture rich and satisfying.

Walnuts are particularly valued as a plant source of omega-3 fatty acids and make an excellent addition to a balanced diet.

Makhana is a popular traditional Indian food that works wonderfully in nutritious snacks and homemade mixes.

Dry Coconut adds natural richness, flavor and healthy fats to the mixture.

Jaggery gives the mix its traditional sweetness and eliminates the need for refined white sugar.

Poppy Seeds (Khus Khus) add their characteristic nutty flavor and texture.

Fennel Seeds (Saunf) provide a refreshing aroma and are traditionally enjoyed after meals in Indian households.

🥛 How to Prepare the Health Mix

Add the almonds, walnuts, makhana, dry coconut, jaggery, poppy seeds and fennel seeds to a grinder.

Grind everything together until you get a fine or slightly coarse powder, according to your preference.

Transfer the mixture to a clean, dry and airtight container.

☕ How to Make the Drink

Take 1 glass of warm milk and add approximately 1 spoon of the prepared mixture.

Stir well and allow it to rest for about 5 minutes, so the mixture softens slightly in the warm milk.

Stir once again and enjoy.

Our original family-style method is to have this warm drink at night, around one hour before bedtime or about 1–1½ hours after dinner.

💡 AAOCOOKKARE Tips

Prepare only a moderate quantity at a time so the nuts and seeds remain fresh.

Always use a completely dry spoon when taking the powder from the container.

You can adjust the amount of jaggery according to your taste and dietary needs.

For the best flavor, the nuts and seeds should smell fresh and never stale or rancid.
