How to Make Chicken Momos
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
In a , mix the maida and salt.
Slowly add cold water large bowl and knead into a medium-soft dough. Continue kneading for about 5 to 7 minutes until the dough becomes smooth.
Cover it with a damp cloth and keep it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. Resting the dough makes it easier to roll and gives softer momos.
Step 2: Prepare the Chicken Filling
In another bowl, add the chicken keema.
Now add the chopped onion, grated garlic, green chilli, coriander leaves, salt, black pepper, sugar, and soy sauce.
Mix everything really well so the spices are evenly combined.
Leave the filling aside for 5 to 10 minutes.
Step 3: Prepare the Steamer
While the filling is resting, fill your momo steamer or steamer pot with water.
Cover it with a lid and let the water come to a boil.
Step 4: Shape the Momos
Take the dough out of the refrigerator and knead it gently for one minute.
Divide it into small balls.
Roll each ball into a thin round sheet. Sprinkle a little dry flour if the dough sticks.
Place about one tablespoon of the chicken filling in the center.
Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges firmly so the filling doesn't come out while steaming.
You can make simple half-moon-shaped momos or fold them into your favorite design.
Step 5: Steam the Momos
Lightly grease the steaming trays with oil.
Arrange the momos on the tray, leaving a little space between each one. Usually, 6 to 7 medium-sized momos fit comfortably on one tray.
Steam on medium heat for 25 to 30 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked.
Carefully remove the momos and serve them hot.
